About The Role

Wren has a huge portfolio of bespoke software services which deliver an unrivalled experience to our customers at all points in their journey. The DevOps team own the tooling, processes, and infrastructure responsible for delivering these experiences to the business and its customers.

Successful DevOps Engineers are expected to hit the ground running working in a fast paced and rewarding environment. A typical day sees engineers working from regular business as usual tasks such as patching or capacity planning to scoping, owning, and delivering projects across many lines of business.

We are offering a salary of up to £60,000 DOE.

 

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Take ownership of the tooling, procedures, and infrastructure responsible for delivering customized applications to both internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Efficiently maintain comprehensive end-to-end observability across the entire infrastructure.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and third-party partners to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Assume responsibility for service configuration and its effective management.
  • Champion best practices and a culture of excellence across all operational levels.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation related to internal applications, systems, and workflows.
  • Participate in incident and problem management functions, both during standard business hours and beyond.
  • Ensure the robust cybersecurity posture of systems to safeguard against potential threats.
  • Architect and develop new servers and services as identified requirements emerge from stakeholders.
  • Engage in scoping, planning, and overseeing projects while contributing to their execution and oversight.
  • Collaborate with software developers to ensure adherence to established development processes.

About You

Required skills and knowledge:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with cloud platforms within large corporate environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Linux operating systems over a period of 5 years or more.
  • Proficiency in orchestrating containers at scale in cloud environments for a duration of at least 3 years.
  • Hands-on experience of at least 3 using tools such as Ansible or Chef for effective configuration management.
  • Proven track record of 3 or more years working with Ci/CD tools like Jenkins, Gitlab, GitHub, and similar platforms.
  • Exhibits a proactive approach, ensuring swift delivery of results.
  • Approaches troubleshooting and support with a professional and systematic methodology.
  • Exhibits a strong commitment to comprehending and resolving stakeholder issues by going the extra mile.
  • Demonstrates a history of successfully implementing substantial architectural changes without disrupting services.
  • Displays exceptional communication skills and a customer-centric approach.
  • Proficient in at least one of the following programming languages: PHP, Python, JavaScript.
  • Capable of analysing problems and employing data-driven insights to make well-informed decisions.
  • Adept at working autonomously as well as collaboratively within larger teams.
  • Experienced in guiding team members to achieve their personal and professional objectives.
  • Displays meticulous attention to detail when handling tasks or large-scale projects.
  • Holds one or more Associate level AWS Certifications.
  
Desired skills and knowledge
  • Proficient in conducting in-depth investigations to uncover underlying causes of issues.
  • Solid background in managing both persistent and volatile data sources, including MySQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch.
  • Experienced in utilizing infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
