About The Role

The IT Purchasing Manager will play a pivotal role in steering the procurement of IT equipment and solutions,
directly impacting our operational efficacy. You will guide and develop the purchasing team, prioritise new and
urgent requests, and ensure the swift fulfilment of procurement needs.
 
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Lead the IT procurement process, aligning it with organisational needs and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Foster and leverage relationships with IT vendors and negotiate to attain the best possible terms
  • Work closely with IT asset managers to proactively determine and fulfil technology requirements.
  • Prioritise new service requests, ensuring critical and urgent demands are met swiftly and efficiently.
  • Mentor and develop the purchasing team, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous learning.
  • Scrutinise and evaluate supplier proposals, focusing on value, quality, and delivery commitments.
  • Refine and enforce purchasing policies and procedures to heighten productivity and enhance procurement
    operations.
  • Record and manage all IT purchasing data, maintaining up-to-date information for inventory and budget
    management.
  • Analyse procurement metrics, deliver comprehensive reports to management, and act on the findings to drive
    improvements and achieve savings.
  • Manage compliance with licensing, budget, and company policies throughout the procurement process.
  • Administer the purchasing budget, ensuring judicious allocation and expenditure in line with strategic IT needs.

About You

Essential Skills & Knowledge:
 
  • Solid experience in IT procurement with leadership responsibilities in an equivalent managerial role.
  • Demonstrated skill in mentoring teams, with a keen focus on developing individual and group competencies.
  • Adept at prioritising tasks and managing urgent procurement requests without compromising ongoing service
    levels or project deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation, strategic thinking, and analytical skills to ensure sound purchasing decisions.
  • Up-to-date with current IT trends and a strong existing network within the IT supply market.
  • Proficient with various procurement and supply chain management software platforms.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, with a proven ability to nurture productive relationships with team members,
    suppliers, and business stakeholders.
  • Relevant professional certifications from CIPS or equivalent supply chain management qualifications are
    advantageous.
