About The Role

Supervision:
  • To Supervise Employees who are undergoing training or assessment, retrain/coach any staff member observed contravening company procedures and report/record in writing via the Improvement Notice Procedure
  • Carry out regular site tours and Delivery Team Site visits to observe and improve team performance through coaching/recording for further action as required
  • Coach drivers on defensive driving and fuel efficient driving techniques to assist in the delivery of operational targets

Legislation:

  • Ensure drivers' Licenses are checked in accordance with company procdure and that accurate on-boarding and training records are kept
  • Ensure own knowledge of workplace policy is kept up-to-date to become departmental experts

Communication:

  • Ensure daily contact with Transport Management team to plan and prioritize workload
  • Network with Driver Assessors at other Depots to ensure consistent practices
  • Liaise regularly with fellow Assessor Team members to ensure a consistent training approach

Administration:

  • Plan and deliver inductions for every new driver
  • Plan and deliver agency driver assessment and induction
  • Plan and deliver remedial post-accident training and assessment
  • Plan and deliver annual driving assessments for all drivers
  • Ensure all drivers are trained and understand the importance of accurate data capture
  • Conduct van driver assessments with the same level of focus on quality and administration as CMV drivers
  • Drive training and compliance on FMCSA regulations

Business Development:

  • Actively encourage Drivers/Porters to give feedback on potential areas for operational improvement and cost saving
  • Give Feedback to the Fleet Department any areas of concern that may affect future fleet purchase / leasing decisions

Quality:

  • Ensure paperwork for all assessments / inductions is fully completed to the highest standards and filed, with copies being sent to the Training Department

Personnel:

  • To attend training courses and pursue personal professional development opportunities that will benefit the operation

About You

Essential Criteria:

  • High standards of attitude, communication and professionalism at all times
  • Strive to develop and improve knowledge and skills for the benefit of self and the company
  • Identify own training needs and work with Transport Managers to ensure all necessary training is obtained
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • A reasonable level of computer literacy
  • Flexible approach to work to ensure all drivers, a.m., p.m. and nights are covered. This may involve the occasional overnight stay and visits to other sites to assist in assessments
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
