About The Role

Due to ongoing growth, we’re seeking a Senior IT Systems Engineer to join our enterprise infrastructure team. This role is ideal for a highly skilled third-line+ engineer with a proven ability to manage complex systems, lead technical projects, and drive operational excellence across a hybrid IT environment.

You’ll be responsible for supporting and improving one of the UK’s largest IT estates, acting as a technical authority for infrastructure services and providing expert-level support for escalated issues. You’ll work across a broad range of technologies—from Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 to cloud platforms like Azure and AWS.

This is a Hybrid role based in Barton-Upon-Humber.

Main responsibilities:

Lead and support high-level incidents, changes, and projects across the infrastructure estate
Administer and optimise systems including Windows Server, VMware, AD, Azure AD, M365, and Veeam
Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and system monitoring/reporting
Automate and streamline operational tasks using PowerShell
Provide mentorship to junior engineers and act as a point of escalation
Participate in an on-call rota (1 in 4 weeks) for critical incident support

About You

Desired skills & knowledge:

Proven third-line experience in enterprise environments
Expert in Windows Server, AD/Azure AD, M365, PowerShell, VMware
Strong knowledge of cloud services (Azure, AWS), backup/DR, and MDM tools (Intune, Jamf, PDQ)
Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
